The Boone County Ambulance Levy was originally approved by county voters in 1986. This levy is on the primary election ballot once every four years, aligning with the presidential and gubernatorial elections. The citizens of Boone County have approved the levy each time it has been voted on which allows us to continue providing the best service possible to our patients.
The levy provides approximately 1/3 of the revenue needed by the BCAA to provide 24 hour coverage across the county. The total levy amount is split between the two EMS agencies in Boone County, that division is based upon the total amount of area covered by each agency with the BCAA receiving 88% of the funding and Whitesville Ambulance Service receiving 12% of the funding.
