County Commission approves $109,000 of American Rescue Plan Funds for BCAA Project



10/29/2024



Through a collaborative effort between the BCAA and the Boone County Commission, the BCAA has ordered three new Philips Tempus Pro cardiac monitors to replace older monitors currently in use. This is the first phase of replacements planned by the BCAA and it will continue until all 9 of the agency's aging cardiac monitors are replaced with new, state-of-the-art, cardiac monitors.



State Medical Director visits Boone County

The BCAA was proud to play host to the West Virginia State EMS Medical Director, Dr. PS Martin in October. Dr. Martin spent the day and evening hours responding alongside EMS crews to emergency calls for service across Boone County. This allowed for an emergency trained physician to provide on-scene care to patients requiring EMS care.



BCAA Receives $225,000 Grant from FEMA to Replace Aging Ambulance

The BCAA was notified on Friday, August 16th that their grant application to replace an aging ambulance had been approved. This federal grant will provide 90% of the total funding request while the agency will be responsible for the remaining 10% of funds for the purchase.



BCAA Takes Delivery of New Ambulance



8/19/2024



The BCAA recently took delivery of a 2023 Ford F550 ambulance to replace a damaged truck in the Racine area of the county. This truck was purchased from Elite Manufacturing in Jefferson, NC and was able to take delivery of the truck within two weeks of purchase. The truck will go for an exciting graphics package and will be stocked & inspected by the WV Office of EMS prior to beginning service in Boone County.​



PUBLIC EDUCATION EVENTS



The BCAA is proud to provide public education to any group or individual needing it. We offer CPR, first aid, and AED training as well as special topic instruction to groups ranging from 1-100 students. In many instances, we can travel to you to provide the training you need.



The BCAA participates in area health fairs that travel around Boone County with the Boone County Health Department. These community health fairs are a great way to offer services not typically found in the smaller outlying communities of our county.




Grant News



BCAA Awarded FEMA AFG Grant for $225,000



2024





The BCAA received a grant from FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $225,000 to replace an aging ambulance within our fleet. The contract for this ambulance was awarded to Wheeled Coach in Florida by the BCAA Board of Directors. This ambulance is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2025.



County Commission Provides Funding for New Cardiac Monitors



2024





In the fall of 2024, the Boone County Commission voted to provide nearly $110,000 in American Rescue Plan Funds to the BCAA to purchase two new LifePak 35 cardiac monitors to replace two outdated and failing Philips MRx cardiac monitors currently in use with our rapid response vehicles.



County Commission Provides Funding for New Ambulance



2023





In the spring of 2022, Boone County Commissioners Bratcher, Kuhn, and Messer voted to provide the BCAA with nearly $150,000 to remount an older ambulance onto a new chassis. The BCAA is extremely grateful for the commission's support of our agency and our mission to provide top quality care to our patients every day. This remount was completed by Custom Truck & Body Works in Georgia.



BCAA Awarded FEMA AFG Grant for $272,000



2022





The BCAA was awarded a federal grant in the amount of nearly $272,000 to replace our aging radio system. This grant provided the agency with 28 Kenwood Viking VP8000 portable radios and 14 Kenwood dual-band mobile radios. This upgrade replaced all the outdated radios in our agency and allowed us to move from the VHF legacy radio system to the statewide interoperability radio system (SIRN System), thus improving and increasing our communications abilities across the county and state.



BCAA Awarded FEMA AFG Grant for $351,000



2021





The BCAA was awarded a federal grant in the amount of nearly $351,000 to increase provider and patient safety by replacing our aging and outdated patient cots and securement systems. This grant covered the cost of replacing 10 patient carriers and installation of 10 power-loading systems in 10 of our ambulances.



BCAA Awarded FEMA AFG Grant for $228,000



2020





The BCAA was awarded a federal grant in the amount of nearly $228,000 for the purchase of a new critical care transport ambulance. This unit is a 2021 model Ford F-450 with a Wheeled Coach box. This new unit features all the necessary equipment and technology to provide care for the most critically injured or ill patients we may encounter in Boone County.
