Director Smith is proud to be a lifelong resident of Boone County and has been involved in emergency services in our county for over twenty years. He started his career in EMS as an EMT with the Boone County Ambulance Authority and has worked to obtain his state and national certifications as a Paramedic and is credentialed in the state of West Virginia as a Mobile Critical Care Paramedic.
Prior to his appointment as Executive Director in January 2023, he served as the agency's Director of Operations, Squad Training Officer, Critical Care Coordinator, Supervisor, Critical Care Paramedic, Paramedic, and EMT. He is a certified instructor through the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, American Heart Association, and International Trauma Life Support.
Director Smith makes his home in Uneeda, WV where he lives with his wife, Julianne, and two children, Eli & Amelia. Outside of his professional career, he is the Chief of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department, a board member and avid supporter of the Boone County Quick Response Team, board member of the Madison Little League, member of the Boone County Enhanced 911 Board, and a strong advocate for EMS through the WV EMS Coalition.
