Our training center is located in Racine, WV and has been certified by the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services as a training center for all levels of pre-hospital care in West Virginia. We are also a standalone training site for the AHA, NAEMT, PEPP, and ITLS. Our training staff consists of certified EMTs & Paramedics that have been trained in adult education and EMS education.



Meet our training staff



Larry Nunnery, MCCP



Training Captain



Larry is the agency Squad Training Officer. He is responsible for oversight of the training center and staff, course development, and course scheduling. Larry has over two decades of emergency services experience to help him lead our team of expert training staff.



Chris Lester, Paramedic



EMS Instructor



Chris is a nationally certified paramedic with nearly a decade of emergency service experience. He assists with employee continuing education, initial certification courses, and public outreach education.



Ben Surface, MCCP



EMS Instructor



Ben is a nationally registered paramedic and endorsed by the West Virginia Office of EMS as a Mobile Critical Care Paramedic, allowing him to provide the highest level of pre-hospital care in our state. Ben assists with employee continuing education.



Jonathan Rabel, MCCP



EMS Instructor



Jonathan is a nationally registered paramedic and endorsed by the West Virginia Office of EMS as a Mobile Critical Care Paramedic, allowing him to provide the highest level of pre-hospital care in our state. Jonathan assists with employee continuing education and initial certification courses.



HealthCare Courses We Offer



WVOEMS Courses


The BCAA is credentialed through the West Virginia Office of EMS as a Training Center. We are able to offer initial certification courses through WVOEMS for EMT-Basic & Mobile Critical Care Paramedic/Nurse. We are also permitted to provided continuing education for all levels of EMS providers in our state.


NREMT Courses


Through our credentialing through the WVOEMS, the BCAA is permitted to teach initial EMT-Basic courses that meet the requirements to test for national registry certification. We are also capable of teaching courses to meet the recertification requirements for all levels of national registry certification.


VFIS Courses


The BCAA has instructors capable of teaching the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) through VFIS. Along with this, our training department is able to offer online courses to our employees through VFIS University.


PEPP Courses


The BCAA has course coordinators certified to instruct both BLS & ALS initial and recertification courses through the Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals curriculum.


NAEMSE Certified


Our instructors are certified for adult education through the West Virginia Office of EMS, National Association of EMS Educators, and the West Virginia Department of Education.


NAEMT Courses


The BCAA is proud to be a training center for the National Association of EMTs. This allows our instructors to teach courses in Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), EMS Safety, Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), & Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS).


ITLS Courses


The BCAA is proud to be a training site for the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) program. This allows our instructors to teach initial and recertification courses in both BLS & ALS ITLS.


AHA Courses


The BCAA is proud to be a training center for the American Heart Association. This allows our instructors to teach initial and recertification courses in CPR, AED, First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
